Katara's Fountain by Maran-Zelde Katara's Fountain by Maran-Zelde
Aang, Zuko, Toph, and even the Cabbage Merchant have their own statues in Republic City, but Katara and Sokka have been left out. So I decided to draw my version of a Katara fountain. If Aang's and Zuko's statues are loosely based on the Statue of Liberty, Katara's statue is more-than-loosely based on the Tyler Davidson Fountain in Cincinnati, Ohio. It seemed fitting for a famous waterbending master. I simplified the design since I couldn't find an image with clear detail, and it would be more work to draw, anyway. Katara's appearance is based on the official concept art for the young adult Gaang, but I gave her a longer skirt because it looks more elegant and classical.

What's that you say? 'But Maran, isn't Sokka your favorite character?' Well, yes. Yes he is. But another artist on DA has already drawn a good Sokka statue, so I thought Katara deserved one first. I'll draw my vision of Sokka's statue next.

Hey, interesting concept. And I like how it's a fountain.

Katara really should have her own statue. If the goddamn cabbage man can have his own then why can't she?

Amazing! So graceful, it suits her. Indeed Katara deserves her own damn statue!!
